Norway Seafoods purchases a vast majority of fresh fish directly from fishing boats. In order to assess quality in a simple and transparent manner, we are evaluating the fish into three different quality standards. All categories represent safe food, unsafe fish are immediately discarded. The quality of the raw material determines the type of products possible to produce. Quality 1 implies full flexibility with respect to production, whereas Quality 2 and Quality 3 have a more limited application. Fishermen are welcome to join the quality evaluation and are given feedback on the result.

Raw materials purchased from industrial suppliers are checked on reception based on normal procedures. Raw materials not meeting the agreed specifications are subject to special measures to determine the further cause of action.
